Downtown of Indianapolis at the night time

Are you traveling to Indianapolis with your family and wondering whether you’ll find attractions to keep everybody entertained? There’s nothing to worry about, as the city has plenty to offer. You could go to the zoo and learn about the different exotic animals, spend an afternoon racing each other at an indoor karting track, or find out if your kids have an inclination for music at the Rhythm Discovery Center.

Learn more about six of the things you can do in Indianapolis with your family.

Race Along at the Speedway Indoor Karting Track

Instead of letting your kids play racing games on their smartphones, why not take them to experience the real deal? If they’re at least 8 years old and 48 inches tall, they can drive on a European-style track or a banked superspeedway oval. You don’t have to worry about their safety, as the staff provide guidance from beginning to end.

Climb Treehouses at Flat Fork Creek

Flat Fork Creek Park is just 30 minutes away from Indianapolis in Fishers. It’s the perfect place to take energetic children and let them run wild as there’s plenty of space and biking trails. But the main activity is to climb the three treehouses in the woods — one of them is ADA compliant, so everyone can have fun!

Visit the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis

Imagine five floors packed full of activities for children of all ages. Kids can become explorers and solve mysteries at the Treasures of Earth, make art in the Playscape area, or learn about dinosaurs in the Dinosphere. Try to visit on the first Thursday of the month when the entrance fee is only $5.

Beat the Drums at the Rhythm Discovery Center

If you have children who like music or just enjoy making noise, take them to the Rhythm Discovery Center. There are professional-quality instruments from all over the globe, so the kids can learn about different cultures as they practice their playing techniques. You might even see a performance by a local group!

Putt at Glow Golf

On a boring rainy day, you could just stay inside enjoying one of the many family-oriented hotels and their facilities. Or you could head to Circle Center mall to play some indoor miniature golf. Glow Golf, as the name implies, has a glow-in-the-dark course that creates a completely unique putting experience.

Marvel at Wild Animals at the Indianapolis Zoo

Inside the White River State Park, the Indianapolis Zoo is a mix of an aquarium, botanical gardens, and a zoo in a 64-acre area. They have around 250 different species, adding up to approximately 2,000 animals. Make sure you see the dolphin show, and sit in the splash area to get the children wet.

It’s nice to know that you don’t have to compromise on activities if you decide to go to Indianapolis with your family. The majority of the kid-friendly attractions also have plenty of things for parents to see and do. So now it’s just a matter of choosing something everybody likes and making the most of your time in the city.
